PuMPKiN BReAD To WaRM YouR BoNeS!

Is there anything more filling, comforting or gratifying than eating
a freshly baked loaf of bread?  Any kind of bread!

As soon as there's a chill in the air I dig out this recipe every
year.  It's the best pumpkin bread recipe I've ever found
and everyone loves it!   I get asked for it often so I thought
I would post it and share with everyone.  I love to buy clear
treat bags to put it in and attach a pretty label with a ribbon
when giving it out to friends and loved ones.  I hope you will
enjoy it as much as I do!  (Don't leave out the walnuts!)

Pumpkin Bread

2/3 c. shortening  (I use Crisco Butter Flavored)
4 Eggs
2/3 c. water
1/2 t. baking powder
2 t. baking soda
2 2/3 c. sugar
1 pound can of pumpkin
3 1/3 c. flour
1 1/2 c. walnut pieces
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

Cream the shortening and sugar together in a large bowl.
Add eggs, pumpkin and water.  (It will look watery)

In a separate bowl mix flour, baking soda, baking powder
and spices.  After thoroughly mixed, add one cup at a time
to the liquid mixture.  Mix well each time you add a cup
of the flour mixture.  When all of the flour mixture is mixed
in with the liquid add the walnuts and stir well.

Bake at 350 degrees for one hour in a loaf pan.
If you are making mini-loafs, check them between
30-45 minutes.   Usually my mini-loafs are done in
about 45 minutes.

I love this bread cold or warm with a little butter.

If you don't eat it all yourself, they make a nice little gift
for co-workers, family and friends!
